A two-year agreement has been reached between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

A typical contract would last four years but with discussions still taking place over pension obligations, it was decided that a short term contract would be drafted.

The issues Canada Post continues to face is the decline in mail volumes, but with the threat of a work disruption no longer on the table, customers can resume using the postal system without any fear that delivery will be postponed.

Both CUPW and Canada Post will continue to work on a long term contract that will meet the needs of both parties.
