The sentencing hearing is expected to last three to five days.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu pled guilty to all 29 charges made against him on January 8, 2019. He faces 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. On April 6, 2018, the tragic crash occurred between the Humboldt Broncos bus and Sidhu's semi truck at the intersection of Highways 35 and 335 in Saskatchewan.

Airdrie's Ryan Straschnitzki was on the bus that was involved in the crash and is now paralyzed from the chest down.

Straschnitzki's parents Tom and Michelle shared statements today at the hearing.

"I am so unbelievably devastated that Ryan lost so many good friends that day," said Michelle Straschnitzki.

"Why didn't you stop, why didn't you slow down, you were going through that intersection regardless, why?" asked Tom Straschnitzki.

The sentencing hearing will last up to five days to continue hearing statements from those affected and their families before a final decision is made.
