It's time to get your boots and hats on and saddle up for the 49th annual Airdrie Pro Rodeo.

Tuesday, June 28, the action gets underway with some of the best cowboys and cowgirls from around the world competing in 8 different events.

Laurie Young with the Pro Rodeo Committee said that when it comes to rodeo, Airdrie knows how to do it.

"The cowboys and the cowgirls that we have will also be competing at the Calgary Stampede, the only difference is that you get to see them at our rodeo, sitting so close that you can't get any closer."

Along with the traditional events like bull riding and team roping, a new event has been added this year where riders will compete to catch and milk a wild cow.

Young said that if you come out to any of the events over the next five days you won't be disappointed.

"We have the caliber of cowboys and cowgirls; you can't get any closer, the scenery and our arena, and just the love and passion that our committee has, you'll feel it in our rodeo this year."

Tuesday night kicks off with Pink Day, followed by Wrangler day on Wednesday.
