Airdrie RCMP are looking into a theft that occurred overnight on August 12, where a truck was used to steal a trailer containing three Yamaha dirt bikes and a Can-Am ATV from behind Dash Auto Graphics and Tinting on East Lake Boulevard.

"We're trying to identify the owner of the truck used during the crime," said Cst. Dan Martin, "It appears to be an older model Dodge Ram. It has side steps, a fifth wheel on the back and a hitch mounted RV mud flap on the back. We're unsure if the truck was stolen."

Sometime that night, the truck arrived at the scene and Martin said the suspect took his time hooking the trailer to the truck. The trailer was secured with tire lock, which the suspect attempted and failed to remove.

"The suspect decided to drag the trailer out of that spot regardless and dragged it off to a rural area where the trailer was abandoned and the ATV and dirt bikes were taken at that point, we believe. They're still missing. We've obviously we've recovered the trailer."

Cst. Martin said they hope that identifying the owner will help them pinpoint a suspect in the crime. Police were unable to obtain the truck's license plate number.
