An investigation from the RCMP's Serious Crimes Branch had led to charges being laid against a member of the force.

"Cst. Sean Taylor, a member of the RCMP has been charged with one count on section 355, Sub A of the Criminal Code, that's possession of property obtained by crime of over 5000 (dollars)," says Sgt. Jack Poitras.

Sgt. Poitras says that a woman, Cori Taylor, has also been charged with numerous counts of forgery and fraud of over $5000.

The investigation took place after it was discovered that funds were misused from the "Whoo's Crew" charity at Crossfield Elementary School from October 2015-November 2016.

Sgt. Poitras says that cases like this are always tough to handle.

"It's never good when we have to charge a member for things but we also want to let the public know that we do take these matters seriously and we are accountable to our actions just like everybody else."

Cst. Taylor was suspended with pay from the RCMP in June of 2017. He and Cori Taylor will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on October 26th.
