A leader who, according to Rocky View School (RVS) Superintendent Greg Luterbach, kept the "human" in Human Resources has announced she'll be leaving the division at the end of March.

Susan Page, RVS Associate Superintendent of Human Resources is planning to retire effective March 31st, 2019.

Page began her career with RVS in 2001 as a system principal charged with mentoring first-year teachers.  She moved on to the new K-8 school in Bearspaw in 2002 and served as principal until 2007 when she received a promotion to become Associate Superintendent of Human Resources.

Luterbach says in that time period, RVS has grown astronomically and Page has been instrumental in overseeing that growth.

"Over those ten years, Rocky View has astronomically grown.  What Susan has brought to the division overall is just being able to take a human-centered approach.  Susan really focuses on keeping the human in human resources.  She set up a number of processes and established an documented that.  That was a really important step for us to take on because, as we were growing, no longer could we do things sort of ad hoc or one-off.  Susan really showed leadership in taking the division's human resources department and moving that forward."

Because of that tremendous growth, the division has had to put new processes in place and spread the human resources capacity over a number of people.  Luterbach says Page has embodied the Rocky View culture of innovation.

"She's willing to look at it, innovate, look at different ways to do it to meet the needs of students and staff.  She certainly has shown that leadership throughout her time in Rocky View.

For her part, Page says she has been fortunate to serve an organization that's known for attracting good people.  She's grateful for the relationships she's built over her 39-year career in education as well as for the opportunity to have served as a mentor to so many dedicated staff members.

Luterbach says Rocky View Schools will initiate the recruitment process for a new Associate Superintendent of Human Resources immediately and will try to have someone in place before Page departs at the end of March.
