"It's a miracle that no one was injured as a result of his driving today," said Cst. Matt Gervais after an impaired driver was pulled over outside of Crossfield on Saturday, July 16.

Coming from Olds, the 29-year-old male from Calgary was travelling southbound on Highway 2A in the northbound lanes, causing many vehicles to take immediate evasive action to avoid a head-on collision.

The white Chevrolet Sonic eventually made it's way to Highway 2 where the male drove southbound, then northbound, and repeated the behaviour several times between Olds and Airdrie.

According to RCMP, members of the Olds and Didsbury detachment were dispatched to patrol for the dangerous vehicle.

It was located and stopped near Crossfield.

The male, who was taken to the Airdrie RCMP detachment, provided breath samples where he blew 2.5 times over the legal limit.

The Calgary man, whose name was not released, is facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Driving a Motor Vehicle Over 80 mg%, and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court.
