With labour disputes plaguing Canada Post, Airdrie online shoppers may not see their Christmas presents be delivered until after the season has passed.

During the holidays, a lot of shoppers have taken to using the internet and online shopping to find that perfect gift for a loved one over fighting the lines, locating a bargain and battling for available products. However it looks like this Christmas season might be the perfect one to return to stores.

Canada Post has been experiencing troubles with worker strikes. Shoppers going through the company for deliveries have been facing notifications that their packages will not arrive on time due to labour disputes and no forseeable end in sight.

Canada Post initially appealed to the workers union that the strike take a pause for the holidays, but the union did not relent. The company then offered a cooling off period during the busy season and a bonus of $1000 for every worker, but once again the union did not accept.

Following the recent problems and the refusal of offers, the federal government is considering getting involved. The liberals have said that if an agreement is not found within a few days, they will consider legislating the workers back to work.

So far, however, there is no foreseeable end to the strike and no foreseeable delivery dates for Christmas packages.

Online shoppers might want to throw on a coat, wipe off their snowboots and put on their bargain hunting hat to take to the stores this Christmas.
