Even if you're not a graphic artist, you could be a designer for the new Cochrane Dollar!

At their January 23 meeting, Cochrane town council endorsed the Cochrane Dollar project as a way of supporting local businesses, shopping and tourism.  Now, the town is running a contest to design the currency.

Economic Development officer Robert Kalinovitch says the online poll to pick the design is running until February 12th.

"Cochrane Dollars should reflect the values of our community and the people and locations people think are important.  We're asking the community to choose five peopole and five landmarks for the bills from a list on the website."

The list for the front of the bills includes people like Senator Matthew Cochrane, the man Cochrane took it's name from; Carolyn Godfrey, Cochrane's first elected female Mayor; and Chief Walking Buffalo.

Recommendations for the back of the bills include the Men of Vision statue and Cochrane's well known Grandfather Tree.

The winning choices will be announced when the bills are unveiled on May 19th.

You can cast your vote on the Cochrane Dollar website.
