If you're out and about in the community this summer and you see a piece of art laying around in a ziplock bag, don't panic. The art isn't lost; it's there to be found.

On May 1, the Airdrie Regional ARTS Society kicked off a new campaign that they are calling Random ARTS of Kindness.

"What it is is free art work from local artists in our community, that whoever finds it can either have it for themselves, give it as a gift and have fun with it," explained Elizabeth Hall with Airdrie Regional ARTS Society.

The campaign will run until the end of ARTember in Airdrie. During the summer, Airdrie artists will be creating original pieces of art and leaving them around the city for people to find and do with as they want.

"It's free, so you can put it in another location, you can take home for yourself and hang it up, you can give it as a gift to somebody, and they're all by local professional artists here in Airdrie that are all members of the Airdrie Regional Arts Society."

Hall says there might be art in parks, on bus benches or restaurants.

Hall says the campaign is meant as a way to share the joy that art brings to people's lives.

"Original pieces of art bring a little bit of something extra to your life. They start conversation, they give people something different and a little bit excitement in their life, [and] give them a story to tell."
