Airdrie resident Carley Toye shaved her head for a good cause on Saturday, July 30th.

The mother of three has raised over $3000 dollars for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.

"I have a lot of really amazing friends and family, so it didn't take too much, it was just a lot of bugging, putting things on social media, throwing it out there on Facebook, and just telling people why I was riding," said Toye.

While preparing for the ride, Toye has also been training for a marathon.

She draws a lot of her motivation and inspiration from her mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.

Her mother was in attendance to cheer her on while she shaved her head at Push Cycling on Saturday, July 30th.

She wanted to shave her head in solidarity with those who have fallen victim to cancer. Her three sons have done the same, and were in attendance to cheer their mom on.

"My story was on my fundraising page about my mom, what I wanted to do, why I was dong it, and I think people really just grabbed onto that and everybody was proud of me so they threw some money at me," said Toye.

The ride has raised over $54 million since it's inception in 2009, and will see riders take on two days of biking and one night of camping.
