Starting last Saturday (December 16), Airdrie RCMP worked alongside Calgary Police Services (CPS) on three separate cases, making significant arrests.

At 10:00pm that night, CPS HAWCS was following a stolen vehicle from Calgary to Airdrie. Airdrie RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services were directed to the location of the stolen vehicle by HAWCS and were able to safely stop the vehicle and arrest the driver, a 21 year old woman from Calgary. Following the arrest, CPS took over the investigation.

About an hour later at 11:00pm, Airdrie RCMP got a report of a driver braking, changing lanes, driving at inconsistent speeds and performing U-turns for no apparent reason near Symons Valley Road. Airdrie RCMP, Rural RCMP and Municipal Traffic Services located the vehicle, at which point the driver tried to evade Police.

A pursuit ensued and a spike belt was deployed as Police felt the driver had become a significant threat to the public. The tires of the vehicle were deflated as the driver continued into Calgary city limits. Eventually the driver fled the vehicle and the chase continued on foot until Airdrie RCMP apprehended the driver. The 52 year old man from Calgary now faces charges of impaired care or control by drug of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.

Early the next morning at 1:00am, Police received complaints of a suspicious man and woman stealing vehicles in Ravenswood. A witness saw a stolen truck used to ram another truck in an attempt to move it. That stolen truck was later located on Kingsview Boulevard traveling south at a fast speed. The truck got stuck and the two suspects fled on foot, and Police Dog Services and HAWCS were contacted to assist. Police were not able to locate the two suspects.
