At the City Council Meeting on Monday November 21st, Councilors reviewed and approved the allocations for Family and Community Support Services for 2017.
This year's budget has increased by close to half a million over last year's budget, going up to $1,514,739.
“Our community benefits from the proactive, preventative programs that FCSS funding supports,” said Mayor Peter Brown, “The increase in funding provides much needed support services in our city.”
Each of the programs being funded were put through a set of five filters to ensure that evidence based programs met the FCSS mandate.
The approved programs include:
1. Community Kitchen Program – Airdrie Food Bank Society $52,500
2. Family Resource Program – North Rocky View Community Links Society $258,130
3. Family & Group Counselling Program - North Rocky View Community Links Society $281,646
4. Wraparound Services Facilitator - North Rocky View Community Links Society $55,000
5. Mentoring in Airdrie - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area $38,295
6. Teen Mentoring - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area $53,254
7. Activity-Focused Mentoring in Airdrie – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area $70,950
8. Youth Program & Outreach– Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie $107,454
9. Critical Hours Children’s Programs – Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie $51,044
10. Viewpoints Youth Mental Health Wellness – Closer to Home Community Services $136,500
11. Airdrie Senior Outreach Program - North Rocky View Community Links Society $109,453
12. Proactive Community Development (Volunteer Coordination) – Airdrie and District Victim Assistance Society $56,000
13. Volunteer Program - Airdrie Food Bank Society $11,000
14. Volunteer Program - Airdrie Meals On Wheels Society $24,075
