The Airdrie CFR Bisons are off to a winning start at the annual Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary.

Defenceman Jackson Wade scored twice to pace the Bisons to a 5 - 3 win over the Thompson Blazers in yesterday's (December 26) opening games for both teams.

Tristan Zandee, Caleb Willms and Jacob Cathcart also scored for Airdrie while Damon Agyeman picked up two assists.  Goaltender Garrett Fuller blocked 19 shots for the win.

The Bisons are back on the ice today at 2:30 pm when they face the New York Junior Islanders at the Max Bell Centre.

The Islanders battled the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers to a scoreless draw in their first game yesterday.
