Four people have died as a result of a collision in Rocky View County at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564 after a semi-truck collided with an SUV. Strathmore Mounties said that they were called to the scene at approximately 10 a.m. "Upon arrival, emergency crews observed that the semi-truck hauling a grain trailer and a small SUV had collided at the intersection." Police said that initial reports indicate that the semi-truck, which had been travelling south on Highway 9, collided with the SUV after the SUV rolled from the stop sign executing a Northbound turn. "Both vehicles came to rest in the Southeast ditch of the intersection. The 68-year-old male driver of the truck was able to escape before the fire," police stated. All four occupants of the SUV, a 62-year-old female from Calgary; a 38-year-old male from Calgary and an adult male and female in their early 60s from the Philippines were deceased at the scene. "The driver of the semi-truck, sustained minor injuries and was assessed by EMS on scene." Traffic flow is returning in the area though motorists are advised to drive with caution as RCMP will remain on the scene for several hours investigating with the support of the Collision Reconstructionist. "RCMP express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased." Send your news tips, story ideas, pictures, and videos to news@discoverairdrie.com.
