House destroyed in Airdrie fire, no injuries reported
A house in Airdrie’s southwest was destroyed Friday night after a blaze spread through the structure. In a social media post, Fire Chief Mike Pirie wrote that crews were called to the 100 block of Canoe Drive around 8:15 p.m. Related Stories: Update: Emergency crews attending structure fire in Airdrie's Southwest He wrote that the first crew arrived to find a two-storey house “fully involved.” Firefighters focused on containing the flames and protecting neighbouring homes. “No injuries were reported and one dog perished,” Pirie wrote. He added that the house is a total loss, while neighbours sustained minor heat and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is not considered suspicious. Pirie wrote that Airdrie Fire Department crews were also attending a gas leak at the same time and brought in an additional engine from Rocky View County.
