Cochrane RCMP: Body of missing man found after Barrier Lake canoe capsize
Cochrane RCMP say the body of a missing man has been recovered after a canoe capsized on Barrier Lake in Kananaskis over the weekend. Police offered condolences to his family and friends. On Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m., RCMP were dispatched to a report of a capsized canoe on Barrier Lake. There were three occupants, all Calgary residents. A 56-year-old woman was rescued and taken to the hospital with hypothermia. A 60-year-old man was found dead at the scene. At the time, police said a 30-year-old man was missing. RCMP reported on Aug. 18 that searches had been unsuccessful, and the Underwater Recovery Team would be commencing a search at 10:30 a.m. that day.
