Rising temperatures prompt special weather statement for Airdrie
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a special weather statement for the Airdrie area as the summer heat returns this week. "Daytime high temperatures between 29 to 33 degrees Celsius are expected beginning today for communities over central and northern Alberta, and will expand to include portions of southern Alberta starting on Monday," shared ECCC. ECCC also shared that overnight low temperatures ranging between 9 to 13 degrees will offer some relief from the heat. However, because the event is expected to last for 5 to 7 days, there is a concern that the effects of the heat could build up over time. "Watch for signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others. Signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue." The heat warnings may be expanded in the coming days.
