The Airdrie Xtreme are advancing to the Alberta Elite Hockey League U15 quarter-finals following a two-game sweep of the Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks in the second round of the playoffs.

The Xtreme capped things off with a 4 - 2 win last night in Lethbridge after blanking the Golden Hawks 6 - 0 in the series opener Wednesday in Airdrie.  Chase Cruz in goal for the Xtreme blocked 17 shots to pick up the goose egg.

In last night's game the Xtreme, who finished first overall in the AEHL South Division with 60 points, moved out to a 2 - 0 lead after the first period on the strength of goals from Kaden Skrenek and Wyatt Pisarczyk.

Lethbridge put some fear into Xtreme hearts by scoring two goals 26 seconds apart in the first half of the third period to knot things at 2 - 2.  The Xtreme came storming back in the last 10 minutes of the game, getting goals from the sticks of John Hadden and Ryder Riedel to pull out the win and advance to the third round.

Corbin Sanderman got the start in goal for Airdrie, going the distance and blocking 28 of the 30 shots he faced.

Four of the second round series have been decided in the AEHL U15 division but four other series are still going to determine the Xtreme's next playoff opponent.
