Airdrie's premiere business awards will be presented at the Winning Edge Awards banquet on Friday, October 22 - but if you haven't already got a ticket, you're probably out of luck. This popular event has already sold out.

Awards will be given in three categories, the Winning Edge Award, the Family Friendly Award and the Eco-Edge Award, as well as to this year's winner of the Airdrie Business Leader Award, Dick Buchanan of Air-Alta Insurance. Finalists in all categories can be found on the Airdrie Business Resource Partnership website. The ABRP sponsors and puts on this event every year. The Range's own Marty Lawrence will be emceeing the event again this year.

This year's guest speaker is Terry T. Rock, PhD, President & CEO of Calgary Arts Development Authority Ltd., Canada’s first municipally-owned arts development authority. Calgary Arts Development is designed to provide an integrated and strategic perspective to support the robust growth of the arts and culture sector in Calgary. Its vision is for Calgary to be a culturally vibrant city that inspires and engages the world.

Dr. Rock was recruited to Calgary by the Haskayne School of Business in 1998 to be an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management. (the Canadian branch of the world’s largest student organization) and the Chair of their Board of Directors. A member of the 2002 class of Leadership Calgary, he has a PhD in Management (Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation) from Texas Tech University, and a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) in Marketing from the University of Saskatchewan. He was in Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2005 and is exceedingly proud that Calgary Arts Development was one of Calgary’s best places to work in 2009.
