It's officially March and there are a lot of reasons why you should be excited.

  • March signifies the beginning of the end... of winter, that is. After a long, cold, harsh winter, March 20th will officially welcome springtime. Despite the occasional snowfall or drop in temperature over the next few months, rest assured that the worst of winter is over (hopefully).
  • Daylight Savings Time happens on March 11th and yes, you may be losing an hour of sleep, but the silver lining here is that the days are becoming longer, and the nights shorter. More daylight that lasts later means more time to do fun things!
  • A day to eat your favourite pie - March 14th, or 'Pi Day'. All you math folks will definitely be celebrating this day, in honour of the math constant 'π' or Pi (3.14). Something some schools will do is hold a Pi contest where students will try to memorize as many digits of Pi, and the winner wins a pie, so get memorizing: 3.141592653589793238....
  • One of the best things about March is St. Patrick's Day on the 17th. On this exciting shamrock-filled day, you get to unleash your inner Irish, drink many green beverages, and celebrate with friends, family, and Leprechauns. And also get away with wearing shirts that say 'Kiss Me I'm Irish!' even though you really aren't.
  • On March 20th, it's the #InternationalDayOfHappiness, a global movement for a happier world. Spreading cheer is always something to look forward to!
  • Many of you take an annual spring vacation which is usually much needed by March. The holidays and cold weather can really take a toll you so it's no surprise that March is the perfect time for a relaxing getaway... preferably somewhere with a beach, sunshine, and two drinks in hand.
  • Easter! This year, it falls on the last weekend in March. Good Friday is on March 30th.
