Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a frost advisory for Airdrie and the surrounding area.

"Patchy frost is expected tonight as overnight temperatures fall to zero degrees Celsius. Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas."

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

Gardeners are urged to take precautions to safeguard plants and trees that are vulnerable to frost.

The advisory is also in effect for Cochrane, Olds, and Sundre.

Airdrie could possibly see frost throughout the week as the forecasted lows are near zero degrees.
