The city of Airdrie is going to be following the province’s direction and protocol and not declaring it a holiday.

They intend to observe a moment of silence at all city facilities when possible.

The city plans on lighting up city hall in royal blue from 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 19 until midnight the next night.

Along with the moment of silence and lighting up city hall, the city will also allow Airdronians to have the opportunity to continue signing the commemorative book for the Queen in the city atrium.

The city will also be broadcasting the national commemorative ceremony that's been taking place in Ottawa that occurs at 9 a.m. local time in council chambers. It will be open to the public. At 10 a.m., the city will be broadcasting the provincial ceremony and once again, Airdronians are invited to watch.

The city will be open on Monday and will continue regular business operations, so that means city council will still be taking place in the afternoon.
