Parts of Southern Alberta experienced extreme weather conditions Tuesday, June 28th.

Calgary saw severe thunder strike several buildings and trees, while Okotoks and High River were exposed to large amounts of hail.

"Yesterday was a very interesting day from a weather point of view, across much of Southern and Central Alberta." said Brian Proctor of Enviroment Canada. "For the first time that most of our meteorologists can recall here, this is the first day we actually had concurrent severe thunderstorm warnings for both the major metropolitan centers of Calgary and Edmonton."

While Edmonton saw copious amounts of rainfall, a major weather system swept through Southern and Central Alberta, bringing heavy rain and hail.

Over the course of the day, a sever thunderstorm watch released by Enviroment Canada, evolved into a severe thunderstorm warning by 3pm.

"A warning is basically 'something is happening seek shelter', and a watch is the conditions are favourable for the possible developement of those kind of conditions later in the day." said Proctor.

While Airdrie was not subject to any hail, severe thunderstorm warnings carried on into Wednesday, June 29th, with potential of similiar conditions.
