An extreme cold warning remains in effect for Airdrie and much of Alberta.

Monday’s high is forecast to hit -25, but when the wind chill is factored in it could feel more like -38 this morning and -33 this afternoon.

With such cold temperatures, many parents and students are wondering if it will lead to school closures.

The Calgary Catholic School District says schools will remain open, which includes all catholic schools in Airdrie.

Rocky View Schools says it will inform parents by 6:30 AM as to whether there are any school closures. At this point, there are no closures expected for Monday.

Schools will likely be keeping kids indoors for recess, but parents are still encouraged to ensure that their children are dressed appropriately for the weather.

As of 6:30 RVS buses were all listed as running on time.
