Dressing up and hitting the streets to collect candy on Halloween is something kids look forward to every year.

To prepare and ensure your kids are safe, the Airdrie RCMP have teamed up with local Insurance Brokers to deliver 6000 glow sticks to elementary schools in Airdrie.

RCMP officers will be delivering safety presentations to each of the schools to promote safe trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

Some key areas RCMP suggest to keep safe are:

  • Visible costumes that can be worn on chilly Halloween nights
  • Costumes that do not jeopardize eye sight/hearing, proper footwear
  • Staying on the sidewalk, and only using crosswalks when needed
  • Staying on main streets and well-lit areas
  • Always trick-or-treat with a parent, older sibling, trusted adult or guardian
  • Never enter a strangers home
  • have an adult check candy over prior to consumption

The Airdrie RCMP, Citizens on Patrol, and Municipal Enforcement will be ramping up their community patrolling to ensure everyone has a safe, fun, and happy Halloween.
