Police are seeking witnesses and anyone with information after a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday January 24 on northbound Deerfoot Trail, between Peigan Trail and 17 Avenue S.E.

"At approximately 6:35 p.m., a female pedestrian was located on the ground in the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail, and it is believed she was struck by one or more vehicles. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene," police stated.

Police added that at least one vehicle believed to have struck the pedestrian did not remain on the scene, and would have sustained damage to the front end as a result of hitting the pedestrian.

"We are looking to speak to all drivers and witnesses involved in this incident."

Anyone with information regarding the vehicles involved, including those with dashcam footage from the time of the incident, is asked to contact the police.

Police added that because the incident will be upsetting to those who witnessed it, there are supports offered, including the Victim Assistance Support Team (VAST).
