Airdrie residents are waking up to a winter wonderland as overnight snowfall paints the city. Amidst the wintry weather, Airdrie reminds its community to prioritize safety and mindfulness while navigating the snowy roads.

The return of the snow has left city roads a mix of covered, partly covered and icy patches, prompting caution from drivers navigating the slick conditions. Commuters travelling along the QEII south of Airdrie into Calgary and north of Airdrie are reporting no defined lanes in sections and some partly snow covered roads with lots of ice.

Secondary highways connecting Airdrie, such as Highway 567, displayed a mix of icy spots and snow-covered stretches, posing additional challenges for motorists.

As drivers approach Calgary, road conditions remain the same, urging travellers to adjust their speed accordingly and exercise patience on the road.

Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts predict continued snowfall in Airdrie until tonight, further emphasizing the need for vigilance behind the wheel. As things warm up to the plus side later today, we could see some of the roads beginning to melt as crews are out working hard to clean up the snowfall.

Overnight things could get icy again as we drop down to a low of minus six with the wind chill. Tomorrow there is still a small chance we will see some snow or rain but by Sunday there is an expected high of 10 degrees and similar temperatures are expected throughout the week, so roads should be clear again.
