Spring is the perfect time of year to de-clutter your place and what better way to get the most out of your cleaning than to donate the things you no longer use?

Airdrie Care Community is looking for donations to fill the space around their new building as well as to ensure the residents there have things to do.

Cindy Ward, the Recreation Therapist for Airdrie Care Community, says they're looking for a nice variety of medium to large live plants like ivy, spiders, snakes, and ferns.

They're also accepting plenty of books for the residents to read while there.

"Preferably large-print books, but we'll take everything." says Ward, "We're just asking that they're not worn out or rough looking. Gently used would be best."

Another thing on their list of needed donations is musical instruments, such as pianos or guitars. They need to be in working condition with little-to-no repairs needed, aside from the changing of some strings.

Having instruments around the residence greatly helps with mental health for not only the residents who live there but the staff working will also appreciate the sound of a piano in the afternoon.

If you would like to donate any of the above items, or something else like board games and fine china sets, you can drop them off in person at 15 Market BLVD in Airdrie between 8:30 and 4:30 or call them at 403-980-5430.
