Drivers in one Canadian province will be thinking twice when passing a school bus, because it could mean losing your license.

The law, which was passed in Prince Edward Island, see's drivers who do not stop for a school bus will lose their license for three months and could also face a fine of up to $5,000. Then there are a few steps required to get your license back and you'll still be on probation for 1 year and anything you do that costs you points on your license, will have you immediately suspended again:

Meet with highway safety officials
Pay a $100 reinstatement fee
Take a defensive driving course within 6 months of getting license reinstated

Do you think a similar law should be passed in Airdrie? Should we be getting our buses using their Stop signs and lights and then making people stop for the safety of our kids?
