Any Airdronians that might use Calgary's public transit will see slight increases starting January 1 2024.

According to Calgary Transit, the increases are to ensure their revenues keep pace with city growth and operating costs.

"For most customers, fares will go up about 10 cents per ride."

Adults over the age of 18 will now pay 10 cents more for a single ticket, or $3.70, and $1 more for a pack of tickets, or $37. The price of a youth pass will increase by five cents to $2.50 and by fifty cents to $25 for a pack of tickets.

Seniors 65 and over will now be able to purchase an annual transit pass for $154.50 instead of $150, while low-income seniors will receive an increase of $1 to $31.

In the meanwhile, the youth monthly pass stays at $82, while the adult monthly pass increases to $115 from $112.

The fee hikes are a component of a four-year service plan that will see adult monthly passes increase to $126 in 2026, representing an 11 per cent increase from 2022 levels. By 2026, a single transit ticket should cost $4, an increase of 10 cents each year.

While Calgary's transit fees are increasing with the new year, the City of Airdrie has confirmed their prices will not be changing. If price changes do occur within Airdrie, they will happen on September 1.
