A frost advisory has been issued for Environment and Climate Change Canada for Airdrie and surrounding areas.

"Patchy frost is expected tonight as temperatures fall to near zero degrees Celsius. Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas,'

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops. 

Airdrie's long weekend weather is expected to continue to be cooler, with a high of 12 degrees for Sunday with the expectation of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm, while Sunday night is also expected to see a low of one degree and a risk of frost.

Monday's daytime is forecast at 10 degrees, with the evening cooling off to minus three. 

The advisory is also in effect for Cochrane, Olds, and Sundre.
