It's free to fish without a licence this weekend in Alberta.

You still need to follow all the laws and regulations however you don't need a fishing licence on July 13 and 14.

It does not apply, though, at national parks like Banff or Jasper.

It's the last time the province will allow it this year. They already had one in February during the Family Day long weekend.

But the big news for Alberta anglers is that the Fishing Regulation Guide is finally out.

While most stores selling fishing licences and offering free guides don't have printed copies, a digital version is available online.

The government hasn't stated why it took so long to release it this year.

Check with your usual dealers for printed copies, but if you're looking for a digital copy, click here.

The government website states that printed copies won't be available until early August.

They usually come out in March or April.
