The Eco Youth Award recognizes local youth with projects that aim to better the enviroment. The City of Airdrie, in partnership with Fortis Alberta, awards financial aid to implement or enhance these environmentally focused projects.

The application includes a proposal that provides a detailed explanation of the project and timeline for carrying out the project. In addition, an explanation of how the project will positively impact the student's academic experience, school, or community. A summary of the budget will also need to be provided, explaining how the funds will be spent and any additional funding sources.

Applicants must be aged 6-18 years and may submit into one of the following four levels:

  • Grade 1-4
  • Grade 5-8
  • Grade 9-12
  • Community groups / teams / clubs / homeschools / individuals

A panel of judges will evaluate submissions and winners will be required to present at an Environmental Advisory Board meeting in early 2019.

Youth can submit their applications online at airdrie.ca/ecoyouth.
