E-scooters may be coming to Airdrie by the summer, and Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown is excited if they do.

“The report will be coming before Council we're guessing in early May, if not the end of April, we have to make a few tweaks to our existing bylaws. Otherwise, we should be good to go.”

Brown says speaking for himself and not Airdrie City Council, he expects to have them by the summer.

“I can't wait. There's no cost to the municipality, they're managed by private businesses. They're very effective to get people around, and they're very popular. You see them all over the place, in all kinds of different communities across North America and around the world.”

Brown goes on to talk about how they can be helpful in many ways.

If you need a ride quickly, and you happen to walk by one, you zip your card in there and they're pretty easy to operate. They have helmets attached and he says as far as he can tell, the safety is very high.

Brown finished off by saying that he is a motorcycle rider so this is right up his alley.
