Yesterday, the Veterans Brotherhood made a generous donation to Community Links.

Veterans Brotherhood is a support network started by veterans and area organizations that would like to do their part to help veterans create a social life.

George Dunn and Larry Skaalrud were the members of the Veterans Brotherhood that made the presentation.

Many members from the group that live in Airdrie support Community Links and what they do so they chose to donate $500 to the non-profit group's Emergency Fund.

The Veterans Brotherhood, based out of Calgary, has around 100 members throughout western Canada.

Laurie Jacob-Toews, Manager of Community Engagement with Community Links, explains what the emergency fund is.

“The Emergency Fund can provide one-time assistance where we can't get them extra support. It might go to somebody that needs bus tickets to get to Calgary or help fill a prescription that they can't afford. It just helps someone get through a crisis until they can receive longer-term support.”

Jacob-Toews went on to say that this donation is very much appreciated especially since donations were down over the past year.
