There will be no update to Alberta's COVID-19 numbers today (Thursday).

Dr. Deena Hinshaw was meant to hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m., the same time the numbers are usually updated on the province's website.

However, shortly before it was about to begin, a notice was sent out saying that it was postponed due to technical issues and would be rescheduled as soon as they were addressed.

Hinshaw did eventually hold a media availability at 4:45 p.m., stating that an estimated 800 new cases of COVID-19 had been identified in Alberta, however she explained that there would be no detailed case numbers due to internal discrepancies that had been found in the province's reporting system.

There is a discrepancy when it comes to numbers in the City of Airdrie. The statistics page of the province's website shows 130 active cases of COVID-19 in our city while the relaunch status page shows 125 active cases.

The province has declared an outbreak (2-4 cases) at George McDougall High School after two cases of the virus were confirmed in individuals at the school on Tuesday. So far the two cases are the only ones linked to the school.

Meantime, Northcott Prairie School has been re-added to the province's school outbreak list after it was removed earlier this week, however the number of cases linked to the school appears to be unchanged at four.
