The new, larger building is set to be built in downtown Airdrie and will contain a new library once it's built, but will also have room for other facilities.

ishes to deliver.”

Lock continued on “Airdrie City Council wants it to be a building that's more than just a library. They want it to have some spaces, programs, and services that would augment and complement all the activities and programs that are happening in the library.”

As of right now, the architect for the design is currently meeting with City Council and the Library Board to consider all the options as to what, aside from the library, can utilize the space in the facility.

“We want it to be a place where people can come and gather. They can experience more than the programs and services provided by the library. What the City of Airdrie Council envisions is a new building that is about 85,000 square feet, there's a great opportunity for outdoor development also.” says Lock.

The plan for this building is to put it right where the old firehouse is. At the end of July, they will decommission the current building and start demolition so they can build the new one.
