The Canola Council of Canada has a new woman in charge.  President Patti Miller is passionate about agriculture and she says she looks forward to getting out to meet people in the industry, especially at this exciting time.  The CCC says they are fortunate to have someone of Ms. Miller's caliber join the organization.

"Canola is a made in Canada success story and the Canola Council itself is composed of the entire value chains, and they've got great staff and a great board of directors so the opportunity to work with this organization and particularly at this point in time is really exciting for me," Miller explains. "I think there are a lot of challenging issues to be dealt with and a lot exciting opportunities out there for the entire sector."

Miller left her position at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where she managed a delivery program for several years.  She says she was very excited to be asked to come back and work directly in the industry.

Miller says the first thing on her agenda is to work with the board of directors and staff, on the next strategic plan for the organization. "The Canola Council had put together a strategy called Growing Great 2015, and it's not 2015 yet but the industry is coming very close to establishing some of the goals in that plan. So we need to work together to look at what the next set of goals will be and what some of the opportunities we're going to be pursuing are."
