The cause of the two-storey house fire that occurred early on the morning of October 14, will remain undetermined. That's the conclusion of Rocky View County Fire Services(RVCFS) who recently completed a thorough investigation.
The house fire took place at a single family home on Range Road #275, approximately five kilometres south off Highway #1 between Chestermere and Langdon. Due to the extreme fire conditions, any possible physical evidence which may have assisted with the investigation was destroyed.
Upon arrival, the house was fully involved in fire. Darran and Phyllis Peterson and their two daughters were able to get out safely but their son Jordan Keeler was still inside. His remains were found later that day. RVCFS wishes to express their condolences to the family and loved ones.
RVCFS would like to remind everyone of how important it is to educate yourself about fire prevention and safety. They completed an outreach program to the surrounding community following the fire to educate residents about these very important topics. RVCFS wishes to remind all residents to make fire prevention a family priority. Residents should ensure homes have properly functioning smoke alarms and develop and practice a home fire escape plan. The first line of defense against a fire is prevention. Please contact your local fire service to receive valuable information on fire prevention and safety.
