A Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for 22-year-old Calgary man, Yosief Hagos. Hagos is wanted in relation to a Christmas Day shooting that occurred on Sunday, December 25.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., on Christmas Day, Calgary police responded to several reports of shots fired in the 2600 block of 36 Street S.E. One man was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy later confirmed the identity of the victim, 24-year-old Samuel Welday Haile. The fatal shooting is Calgary’s 26th homicide of the year. Police stated that investigators are currently determining the motivation behind this incident. At this point, it is unknown if this was a targeted shooting.

Hagos is described as 5’11” tall, approximately 140 pounds, with a slim build.

"We ask members of the public to exercise caution if you believe you see or know the suspect, as he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. All sightings should be reported by calling 9-1-1," police stated.
