The Calgary Police Service in partnership with the Cochrane RCMP has arrested a man who is believed to be connected to a shooting that occurred earlier this month in the southeast community of Radisson Heights.

24-year-old Malik Holloway resident of Stoney Nakoda has been charged with one count each of careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and four counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of failure to comply and one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

"At approximately 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, August 11, police were called to a residence located in the 2800 block of 15 Avenue S.E., for reports of shots fired. After speaking with the complainant and witnesses, it is believed that an argument between two men occurred at the residence which resulted in one man leaving and then later returning to the area in a truck."

It is alleged the man then drove by while shooting in front of and behind the residence and then fled the scene prior to police arrival. No injuries were reported. On Tuesday, August 16, Cochrane RCMP members located the truck used by the suspect in the community of Morley and notified Calgary police.

"Members of the Calgary Police Service executed a search warrant on the vehicle, and a firearm was located in the truck."

The vehicle was then seized by Calgary police. On Wednesday, August 17 Cochrane RCMP members located and arrested the suspect who remains in custody. It is believed he is also responsible for a drive-by shooting in Morley.

"Our efforts to address gun violence rely on strong community support. If you have information that could help an investigation, such as witnessing suspicious behaviour or vehicles, please contact the police. Even something small can have a great impact on an investigation," a press release stated.

Holloway will be appearing in Cochrane Provincial Court on September 20.
