Today was a special day for École Edwards Elementary School as they held a grand opening for their brand-new playground. The playground has been under construction for the past few months.

Rachelle Prudhomme, the Principal of the school was very excited for the grand opening.

"I want more than anything for students every day to be happy and healthy, at school and in life. So if this brings joy and happiness to them, that makes me happy."

The reason for the new playground is that the old one caught on fire and had to be fully replaced.

"In the spring when it was caught on fire. That was incredibly hard and difficult to work through with staff and students. We tried to carry on after that and have fun outside, but ultimately, it's not the same as a park."

With the new playground now open for students to use, Prudhomme is very thankful for everybody who has helped out in this process.

"We belong to a community that rallied together during a difficult time. We cared for one another, ensuring that the well-being of our students remained our priority. We displayed our independence through resilience and determination."

Visitors are also now able to check out and play on the playground.
