Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards wanted to make sure he honoured Stephen McPhee for his recent Stampede Western Legacy Youth Award.

At his office in AIrdrie yesterday (November 17th), Richards presented a certificate of congratulations on behalf of the Federal Government for the award, which Stephen received on Wednesday.

Richards says he was privileged to once again honour a great member of the community.

"This is a family and a special kid. You think of the difference they've made in our community and way beyond, it's special and it's something that deserves to be recognized and celebrated."

Richards says he has taken time to mention the good will efforts of Stephen and the McPhee family while standing in the House of Commons in Ottawa and believes the city has no shortage of outstanding citizens who give back.

He believes this award is also special for Stephen as he continues his desire to help others and build on the legacy his late father Jim McPhee helped build.

"What Jim and Nancy have imparted on both of their children. You think about how amazing they've turned out and how much they're already contributing at such young ages and that doesn't come by accident, that's the way someone's raised. It says a lot about who Jim was and what he stood for."
