Mounties say they've made a significant drug bust in Rocky View County, just south of the city of Airdrie.

RCMP seized 1.5 kilograms of cocaine along with smaller amounts of crack cocaine and fentanyl. This was all in relation to an investigation into the smuggling of tasers in Rocky View County.

In February the Airdrie joint Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began investigating a man after receiving a tip that a man was allegedly trafficking cocaine and conducted energy weapons; commonly known as tasers.

The investigation came to an end on March 28th when the 38-year-old man was arrested and his residence was searched under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Officers recovered the drugs, nine tasers, two handguns and a rifle. Officers also recovered a drug press they allege was being used to press bricks of cocaine for resale.

Police say along with the drugs and weapons, they also seized $5,300 in cash, a jet ski, a motorcycle and an ATV all believed to have been purchased with money acquired through proceeds of crime.

Jamie Allen Moreault, 38, is now facing a dozen charges including trafficking of cocaine and weapons and possession of proceeds of crime.

He has been released on cash bail and will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on April 25, 2019.
