A 55-year-old Airdrie man accused of sex-related offences involving a child is due back in court in the New Year.

The man, who can't be named due to a publication ban, was arrested this past June. He faces charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual assault.

Airdrie RCMP entered into an investigation in early 2019 and say the allegations stem back to 2003 and 2004.

According to police, the female victim in the case was in the care of the accused at the time.

While his identity was originally made public, his name was placed under a publication ban at his first court appearance in August due to the nature of the relationship between the accused and complainant.

So far, no pleas have been entered.

The matter is due back in Airdrie Provincial Court on January 16.
