The 12th Annual Hike for Hospice is happening in Airdrie on Saturday, at East Lake Park, behind Genesis Place. This event is one of Airdrie and District Hospice Society's biggest fundraisers of the year.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, May 25th
  • Location: East Lake Park, near Genesis Place
  • Registration: Opens at 8:30 AM

The Hike for Hospice is more than just a walk, it's about having fun and making a difference. Funds raised from the event primarily support their Compassionate Care Fund, which helps cover costs not covered by other programs, such as medications, medical supplies, and transportation. This year, a portion of the proceeds will also support our children’s grief programs by purchasing journals and materials for this free service.

Programs Supported:

Compassionate Care Fund: This fund helps individuals and families with the financial burdens that come with end-of-life diagnoses, such as cancer or ALS. The fund covers costs that are not covered by other programs. Applicants need a signature from a doctor or an RN to access these funds.

Children’s Grief Program: Aimed at children aged 12 to 16, this program provides necessary materials like booklets and journals. It is supported through the Rainbows for All Children Canada.

Event Schedule:

  1. 8:30 AM: Registration opens
  2. Opening Remarks and Warm-Up: Led by Blossom Tai Chi
  3. Hike Options: 1 km and 5 km routes, suitable for all ages and abilities
  4. Post-Hike BBQ: A perfect way to relax and socialize
