During the City Council meeting on Monday, May 16, Paul Schulz, Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Airdrie, spoke about each of the emergency crews in Fort McMurray.

Schulz said that the day after the state of emergency was announced, a crew of 4 firefighters went up with an engine and have completed 5 shifts so far.

Five RCMP officers from the Airdrie detachment returned from Fort McMurray on Thursday, May 12, and remain on standby with the potential to be called out at any time.

Lorri Laface, Emergency Management Coordinator for the City, was put on standby and continues to liaise with the Fort McMurray Command Centre. 

Clay Aragon, FCSS Coordinator, returned Monday, May 16, after spending a week helping create a plan to return residents to their homes.

Schulz said that a request has come in for certified Water Technicians from Public Works that can help bring the water systems come back up to speed.

With the fire still out of control, other personnel could be called out at any time.
