One Airdrie man is making the best of the economic downturn.

Wayne Kuperferschmidt had joined many of Alberta's unemployed, and needed to adjust to the transition.

"I was working for an oil service company in downtown Calgary, and I was there for 8 years, and now I've been out of work just over a year." said Kupferschmidt.

To help keep himself busy, Kupferschmidt started taking on wood working projects for friends and family, including a "yard Yahtzee" set for a friend.

"A friend of ours that we camp with saw the idea on Pinterest and wanted me to build a couple sets that we could play while we went camping one weekend."

Since then, demand for the sets has grown, becoming a source of income for the Airdrie man.

Each set includes a bucket for rolling dice, a laminated score card, and hand crafted cedar dice.

Kupferschmidt has set up a Facebook page, and has taken the title of Wayne's Woodwerks.
