Hundreds of fans of the Alberta-shot supernatural western Wynonna Earp came together to show their support for the show with a campaign dubbed #BringWynonnaHome its support of keeping the show rolling in its home base of Didsbury.

The fourth season aired its final episode on April 9th and fans started a campaign to keep the show filming for a fifth season.

Fans were asked to submit homemade billboards or postcards, which were then projected onto screens on April 8th in three spots along the main drag in Didsbury.

If fans wanted to have their images or a video broadcast on the screen, they could donate money as well.

The event was organized by Keep Alberta Rolling and was aimed at raising funds for the town and raising awareness of the screen industry in the province. Didsbury plays the town of Purgatory in the supernatural western said Brock Skretting, head of advocacy for Keep Alberta Rolling.

"It's a really special thing that just shows you how the industry can help market the province through fans and shows that are worldwide in their reach, but also how special the fans are of this show in particular and how they're always looking to give back."

He goes on to say fans drive shows and they keep these shows going because they love them so much and it's a new kind of world for the industry as well with streamers taking off, shows are never really over as long as there is an audience and how special that is.

"The fans obviously recognize that and are pushing for a season five in this case and as members of the Alberta film industry we hope for that because this show is a very special one and it means a lot to the crew and cast."

Skretting said that it's the place and the people that make Alberta amazing and a great place for this kind of industry,

"There's something special about Alberta, I think there's something in the soil that makes for a secondary home for a lot of people and when they watch their favourite show and they see Alberta, Alberta becomes a character."

He adds it's a special place and we have a beautiful and diverse landscape and it just fits so well for being backdrops for film and television projects.

A similar event was put on by 3 fans of the show in New York in 2018 when season 4 almost didn't go ahead as well.

Postcards came in from all over the world including the U.K., Europe, Germany, the U.S. and of course Canada.

The event raised over 15,000 dollars US and the money will go toward paying for a local outdoor train for the town’s historical society, among other causes.
